Beetroot
Also Known As: Beet, Beet Root, Chukandar, Beets
Category: Vegetable → Root Vegetables
Beetroot is a naturally deep-coloured root vegetable with a firm texture and earthy, mildly sweet flavour. It is widely used in Indian cooking as well as salads, juices and traditional preparations.
Our Beetroot is sourced through relationships with various farming families in and around Bengaluru, Karnataka, using traditional natural farming and indigenous agricultural practices. The actual farmer and source may vary from batch to batch depending on seasonal availability.
We use natural handling and storage methods rather than relying on chemical preservatives to artificially extend the shelf life of fresh produce.

Natural Freshness & Shelf Life
Beetroot is a natural root vegetable that can be stored for some time under suitable conditions.
During storage, you may naturally notice:
- Drying of the outer skin
- Minor surface marks
- Gradual loss of firmness
- Moisture loss
- Small root or leaf-stem marks
- Natural variation in internal colour
The intensity of the red/purple colour can also naturally vary between beetroots.
Why Beetroot May Spoil
Beetroot can deteriorate when exposed to excess moisture, humidity, heat or poor ventilation.
We do not rely on chemical preservatives to artificially extend the shelf life of fresh produce. Proper storage is therefore important.
Any beetroot showing significant mould, severe softening or obvious deterioration should be separated from good produce.
Storage
For better freshness:
- Store Beetroot in a cool, dry place.
- Refrigeration can help maintain freshness for longer storage.
- If the leafy tops are attached, removing them before storage can help reduce moisture loss from the root.
- Keep the roots dry.
- Avoid washing before storage.
- Remove damaged pieces promptly.
- Once peeled or cut, refrigerate in a clean covered container and use promptly.
Natural Variation
Beetroot may naturally vary in:
- Size
- Weight
- Shape
- Skin colour
- Internal colour intensity
- Firmness
- Root formation
- Surface texture
- Minor marks
These differences can occur naturally due to variety, season, soil conditions, weather, harvesting and storage conditions.
Replacement Policy
Generally, fresh vegetables are not eligible for replacement because of normal natural variation or ordinary deterioration after delivery.
Differences in size, shape, colour intensity, firmness, minor surface marks or natural moisture loss during storage are considered normal characteristics of fresh produce.
If there is a genuine quality issue that was already present at the time of delivery, please contact us with clear photographs and your order details. Each case will be reviewed individually.
