Traditional Cumin Seeds | Aromatic Spice for Everyday Cooking
Our Cumin, also known as Jeera, consists of carefully selected cumin seeds sourced through our network of farming families in India. The seeds are cleaned, sorted and packed as whole seeds to retain their natural aroma and characteristic earthy flavour.
Cumin is one of the most widely used traditional spices in Indian cooking.
From Farm to Kitchen
Cumin is sourced from different farming families depending on crop availability and sourcing.
The seeds are:
- Carefully selected
- Cleaned and sorted
- Naturally dried/handled
- Packed as whole seeds
- Stored using natural storage practices
The actual farmer/source may vary by batch depending on crop availability and sourcing.
Our Farming Approach
Our spices come through a network of farming families who follow traditional and natural farming practices passed down through generations.
We focus on knowing:
- Who grows the crop
- Where it is cultivated
- How it is grown
- How it is handled after harvest
We do not carry an organic certification. Our approach is based on our direct relationship with farming families and our understanding of their traditional cultivation practices.
We do not intentionally adulterate our products.
Everyday Uses of Cumin
Cumin seeds are commonly used in:
- Dal and sambar
- Curries and gravies
- Vegetable preparations
- Jeera rice
- Pulao
- Rasam
- Soups
- Chutneys
- Pickles
- Spice blends
- Tempering (tadka)
- Traditional savoury recipes
Cumin can be used whole, roasted or ground depending on the recipe.
Whole or Roasted Cumin
Cumin seeds are often lightly roasted or tempered in oil or ghee before adding them to a dish. Roasting can bring out their characteristic aroma and flavour.
They can also be ground into cumin powder for use in spice blends and recipes.
Storage & Natural Variation
Whole spices are agricultural products and can naturally vary in seed size, colour, aroma and appearance between batches.
For best storage:
- Store in a clean, dry, airtight container.
- Keep in a cool and dry place.
- Protect from moisture and humidity.
- Use a clean, dry spoon.
- Keep the container tightly closed after use.

Natural variation in seed size, colour or aroma does not by itself qualify for replacement.
