About Tomato
Our tomatoes are cultivated by various farming families in and around Bengaluru (Bangalore), Karnataka, India, using traditional natural farming methods and indigenous agricultural practices.
Tomatoes are naturally juicy and perishable. Their size, shape, colour, firmness and ripeness can vary depending on the variety, season, weather and harvesting stage.
The actual farmer/source may vary from batch to batch depending on seasonal availability.
Our Natural Farming Approach
We work with farming families who follow traditional natural farming methods using indigenous practices.
We focus on maintaining the natural character of the crop rather than trying to make every tomato look exactly the same.
We also follow natural handling and preservation methods to maintain freshness instead of relying on chemical preservatives to artificially extend shelf life.
We do not represent our vegetables as certified organic unless the applicable certification is available.

Natural Freshness & Shelf Life
Tomatoes are a fresh, living agricultural product and naturally continue to ripen after harvesting.
Depending on their maturity when delivered, you may notice:
- Gradual colour change
- Softening
- Increased ripeness
- Minor natural skin marks
- Natural moisture loss
- Faster spoilage after becoming fully ripe
Why May Our Tomatoes Spoil Faster?
We want our customers to understand the difference between natural freshness and artificially extended shelf life.
We do not rely on chemical preservatives to artificially extend the shelf life of our fresh vegetables. Therefore, tomatoes may sometimes soften or spoil sooner than produce that has undergone different commercial post-harvest handling.
This is a natural characteristic of fresh tomatoes and does not automatically indicate poor quality.
Once delivered, proper storage and timely consumption are important.
How to Store Tomatoes
Storage depends on how ripe the tomatoes are when received.
- Keep unripe tomatoes in a suitable cool area away from direct sunlight.
- Once tomatoes become ripe, use them promptly.
- Refrigeration can be considered when appropriate to slow further ripening.
- Keep tomatoes dry and avoid excess moisture.
- Do not store damaged or spoiled tomatoes together with fresh ones.
- Check regularly and use the ripest tomatoes first.
Fresh vegetables are best enjoyed while they are fresh.
Natural Variation
Every crop is different. Our tomatoes may naturally vary in:
Size • Shape • Colour • Firmness • Ripeness • Skin appearance • Moisture
Minor natural surface marks or differences in appearance can occur because of the variety, season, weather, soil and natural growing conditions.
These variations do not necessarily indicate a quality problem.
Replacement Policy
We generally do not accept replacement requests for normal natural variation or ordinary spoilage after delivery.
For example, we normally do not replace tomatoes because of:
- Different sizes or shapes
- Natural colour variation
- Minor surface marks
- Softening as the tomato ripens
- Natural moisture loss
- Spoilage after being stored for some time
When Can We Consider a Replacement?
If there is a specific and genuine quality issue at the time of delivery, please contact us as soon as possible with clear photographs and your order details.
We will review the matter based on the circumstances.
Any replacement is considered on a case-by-case basis and is not automatic.
Our Commitment
At Sampoorna Swadesi, we want our customers to understand that fresh vegetables are not factory-made products.
They are grown by farming families and naturally affected by weather, season, soil, variety, harvesting and storage conditions.
We believe in giving customers an honest understanding of both the benefits and natural limitations of fresh produce.
Know the farmer. Know the source. Understand the food. Store it properly. Enjoy it fresh.
