Traditional Yellow Jowar • Naturally Milled • From Farming Families

Yellow Jowar Flour, also known as Yellow Sorghum Flour, is made by milling traditional yellow jowar grains into a fine flour. It is a versatile traditional flour commonly used in Indian cooking.

At Sampoorna Swadesi, we focus on knowing the source of our food and maintaining a direct relationship with farming families.

From Grain to Flour

Our Yellow Jowar is sourced through our network of farming families in India. Different grains require different soil and climatic conditions, so we work with different farmers according to crop availability and suitability.

The grain is traditionally grown and then milled into flour for everyday cooking.

The actual farmer/source may vary by batch depending on crop availability and sourcing.

Our Farming Approach

  • Traditional/indigenous yellow jowar grains
  • Traditional natural farming practices
  • No intentional adulteration
  • Direct sourcing through farming families
  • Natural preservation and storage practices
  • We do not rely on chemical preservatives for preservation

We do not claim organic certification. Our focus is on knowing the farmer, knowing the source and understanding how the food is grown.

What is Yellow Jowar Flour?

Yellow Jowar Flour is made from yellow-coloured sorghum (jowar) grains that are milled into flour.

It can be used as an alternative to commonly used cereal flours in many traditional recipes.

Common Uses

Yellow Jowar Flour can be used for:

  • Jowar roti
  • Bhakri
  • Jowar paratha
  • Dosa
  • Chilla
  • Porridge
  • Flatbreads
  • Traditional Indian recipes
  • Flour blends for everyday cooking
  • Snacks and baked preparations

About Natural Storage Insects

Because grains and flours are stored in warm and humid conditions, occasional storage insects or small black pests can naturally occur.

Their presence does not automatically indicate adulteration. As we follow natural preservation and storage practices rather than relying on chemical pest-control treatments, occasional storage pests may occur.

To maintain freshness at home:

  • Transfer the flour into a clean, dry, airtight container.
  • Store in a cool, dry place.
  • Keep away from moisture and humidity.
  • Always use a clean, dry spoon.
  • Check the flour before use.
  • For longer storage, refrigeration can help maintain freshness.

Replacement Policy

Natural variation in colour, texture or occasional storage insects does not by itself qualify for replacement.

However, if you receive a product with a genuine quality issue, such as:

  • Visible fungus or mould
  • White worms/larvae
  • Significant deterioration
  • Other serious quality concerns

please contact us with clear photographs and your order details so we can review the issue.

Sampoorna Swadesi Approach

We believe food is more than a packet with a label.

We focus on:

Know the Farmer → Know the Land → Know the Farming → Know Your Food

Our products come through relationships with farming families and traditional agricultural practices rather than simply relying on certification labels.
