Rajma Chitra is a traditional variety of kidney bean sourced from our network of farming families in India.
At Sampoorna Swadesi, we work with different farmers for different grains and pulses because different crops require different soil and climatic conditions. This allows us to source each crop from locations suitable for its cultivation.
Know Your Farmers
Our grains and pulses are sourced from different farming families, including:
- Rajesh – Macherla, Andhra Pradesh
- Siva Reddy – Rayachoti, Andhra Pradesh
- Jagadeesh Rao – Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh
- Ashok Reddy – Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh
- Yedukondalu – Piduguralla, Andhra Pradesh
The actual farmer/source may vary by batch depending on crop availability and sourcing.
How Our Rajma Chitra Is Cultivated
Our Rajma Chitra is cultivated using natural farming methods and traditional/indigenous seeds.
We follow natural preservation and storage methods to help maintain the shelf life of the pulses instead of relying on chemical preservatives.
Because the product is naturally cultivated and handled, natural variations may occur between batches in:
- Colour and pattern
- Size and shape
- Texture
- Aroma
- Moisture
- Cooking characteristics
These variations can naturally occur from one harvest or batch to another.
We do not call our products “organic” because we do not have organic certification. Our focus is on knowing the farmers, the source and the farming practices.
Why You May Occasionally See Black Storage Pests
Customers may occasionally notice small black storage insects/pests in Rajma and other stored pulses.
We want our customers to understand that the occasional presence of a storage insect does not automatically mean the pulse has been adulterated.
Stored grains and pulses can naturally attract insects, particularly under warm and humid storage conditions. These insects may become visible only after some time.
Because we follow natural preservation practices rather than depending on chemical pest-control treatments, occasional storage insects can occur.
Proper Storage
After opening:
- Store Rajma Chitra in a clean, dry, airtight container.
- Keep it in a cool, dry place.
- Protect it from moisture.
- Check the pulses before cooking.
How to Use Rajma Chitra
Rajma Chitra can be used in a variety of traditional and everyday preparations:
- Rajma curry
- Rajma masala
- Rajma rice
- Rajma gravy
- Mixed bean dishes
- Soups and stews
- Traditional Indian pulse preparations
Important: Rajma should be properly soaked and thoroughly cooked before consumption.
Our Preservation Approach
We prefer natural preservation and storage practices instead of relying on chemical preservatives.
As a result, customers may notice natural differences between batches in colour, pattern, size, aroma, texture and cooking behaviour.
Such natural variation does not necessarily indicate a quality problem.
Replacement Policy
We generally do not replace Rajma Chitra for normal natural variation or occasional storage insects.
However, if you notice a genuine quality problem such as:
- Visible fungus or mould
- White worms/larvae
- Significant deterioration of the product
please contact us with clear photographs and your order details. The issue will be reviewed and replacement will be considered where appropriate.
The Sampoorna Swadesi Approach
Different grains and pulses need different soil, climate and growing conditions. That is why we source different crops from farming families in different locations.
Our focus is on maintaining a direct connection with farmers, understanding the source and bringing traditionally cultivated food to our customers.
We may not have organic certification, but we want you to know who grows your food, where it comes from and how it is cultivated.
Know your farmer. Know your food.
