About Raw Banana

Raw Banana is the unripe fruit of the banana plant and is commonly used as a vegetable in Indian cooking. Unlike ripe bananas, Raw Bananas are firm and starchy and are generally cooked before consumption.

Our Raw Bananas are sourced through relationships with various farming families in and around Bengaluru, Karnataka, using traditional natural farming and indigenous agricultural practices. The actual farmer and source may vary from batch to batch depending on seasonal availability.

We use natural handling and preservation methods rather than relying on chemical preservatives to artificially extend the shelf life of fresh vegetables.

Benefits of Using

Raw Banana has useful nutritional characteristics:

  • Provides dietary fibre.
  • A natural source of carbohydrates and starch.
  • Provides minerals such as potassium and magnesium.
  • Contains vitamin C and vitamin B6.
  • Its firm texture makes it suitable for frying, curries, steaming and other traditional preparations.
  • Can be combined with pulses, coconut, spices and other vegetables.

These are general nutritional characteristics and are not medical claims.

  • Raw banana curry

Natural Freshness & Shelf Life

Raw Banana is a fresh agricultural product that continues to mature after harvesting.

Depending on the stage at which it is harvested and stored, you may notice:

  • Gradual change from deep green towards yellow
  • Softening as it ripens
  • Minor skin marks
  • Changes in skin colour
  • Moisture loss
  • Darkening of the cut surface after peeling or cutting

Raw Banana is generally best used while it is still firm and green when the recipe specifically requires an unripe banana.

Why Raw Banana May Change or Spoil

Fresh produce naturally changes after harvesting. Warm and humid conditions can accelerate ripening and deterioration.

We do not rely on chemical preservatives to artificially extend the shelf life of fresh vegetables. Therefore, natural ripening, softening or occasional spoilage can occur during storage.

This does not automatically indicate poor quality.

Storage

For better freshness:

  • Keep Raw Bananas in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place.
  • Keep them away from direct sunlight and excess moisture.
  • Avoid storing them in a tightly sealed plastic bag when moisture can accumulate.
  • Check regularly for over-ripening or damaged pieces.
  • Separate damaged pieces from good ones.
  • Use them while they are firm if you want them specifically for cooking as a vegetable.

Natural Variation

Raw Bananas may naturally vary in:

  • Size
  • Length
  • Thickness
  • Shape
  • Green colour intensity
  • Firmness
  • Skin texture
  • Stage of maturity
  • Minor surface marks

These differences can occur naturally due to banana variety, season, weather, soil conditions and harvesting stage.

Replacement Policy

Generally, fresh vegetables are not eligible for replacement because of normal natural variation or ordinary spoilage after delivery.

Differences in size, shape, colour, minor surface marks, natural ripening or softening after delivery are considered normal characteristics of fresh produce.

If there is a genuine quality issue that was already present at the time of delivery, please contact us with clear photographs and your order details. Each case will be reviewed individually.
