Product Description

Kodo Millet is a traditional millet that has been cultivated and consumed in India for generations. It can be used as an alternative to rice and is suitable for a variety of traditional everyday preparations.

At Sampoorna Swadesi, we believe that different crops grow best in different soil and climatic conditions. Our Kodo Millet is cultivated by our farming partner Sivarami Reddy from Adoni, Andhra Pradesh, following natural farming practices.

Know Your Farmer

Our Kodo Millet is sourced from Sivarami Reddy, Adoni, who cultivates the crop using traditional farming knowledge and natural farming practices.

We believe that knowing the farmer and the source of our food is an important part of building trust with our customers.

Natural Farming & Indigenous Seeds

Our Kodo Millet is cultivated using natural farming methods and indigenous/traditional seeds, following the farming practices of our farmer.

We focus on traditional agricultural knowledge and maintaining a direct connection with the person who grows our food.

We do not claim organic certification for this product. Our approach is based on natural farming practices, indigenous/traditional seeds and traceable sourcing.

Natural Preservation

We follow natural preservation and storage methods to help maintain the shelf life of our millet, rather than relying on chemical preservatives as part of our approach.

As a naturally sourced agricultural product, Kodo Millet may naturally vary in colour, size, texture and appearance from one batch to another.

Why Can Black Pests Appear in Kodo Millet?

Customers may occasionally notice small black storage insects or pests in millet.

Stored grains and millets can naturally be affected by storage insects, particularly under warm and humid conditions. Such insects can originate from the crop or become visible later during storage.

The occasional presence of a storage insect does not by itself mean that the millet has been adulterated.

We want our customers to understand that naturally stored grains can sometimes experience storage pests. This is different from genuine food deterioration.

Replacement Policy

Because Kodo Millet is a naturally sourced agricultural product, minor natural variations and occasional black storage pests are not automatically considered a product defect.

Generally, we do not replace Kodo Millet solely because of the presence of occasional black storage pests.

However, we will consider replacement in the event of a genuine quality issue, particularly where fungus/mould or white worms/larvae are found.

Please contact us as soon as possible with photographs and the relevant order or batch information so that the issue can be reviewed.

Our Sampoorna Swadesi Approach

At Sampoorna Swadesi, we believe that knowing who grows our food and where it comes from is important.

Different crops need different soil and climatic conditions. Our Kodo Millet comes from Sivarami Reddi in Adoni, where the crop is cultivated according to the farming practices followed by our farming partner.

Our approach is:

Know the Farmer → Know the Source → Respect Traditional Farming → Bring Better Food Home

We focus on our relationship with farmers, traditional agricultural knowledge and traceable sourcing rather than treating an organic certification label as the only measure of how food is grown.
