Chintaloori Sanna Rice is a traditional rice variety cultivated by our farmer Yedukondalu from Piduguralla, Andhra Pradesh, India.

This rice is cultivated using traditional indigenous farming methods, following natural farming practices passed down through generations. At Sampoorna Swadesi, our focus is not simply on buying rice from a market and reselling it. We prefer to know who grows our food, where it is grown and how it is cultivated.

Our Farmer & Source

Farmer: Yedukondalu
Location: Piduguralla, Andhra Pradesh, India
Rice: Chintaloori Sanna Rice
Processing: Single Polished

We source this rice directly through our farming network and maintain traceability to the farming family. Our relationship with the farmer is an important part of the Sampoorna Swadesi concept.

How This Rice Is Cultivated

Chintaloori Sanna Rice is cultivated using traditional indigenous farming methods.

Our approach is based on:
– Traditional farming knowledge
– Natural farming practices
– Indigenous agricultural methods
– Care for the soil and farming ecosystem
– Avoiding unnecessary chemical intervention

We do not describe this rice as “certified organic”, because Sampoorna Swadesi does not use an organic certification claim unless the relevant certification is actually available. For us, knowing the farmer and understanding the farming practices is an important part of food quality and traceability.

Why Single Polished?

The rice is single polished, rather than being heavily polished. Single polishing is used to clean and process the rice while retaining more of its traditional appearance and character compared with heavily polished white rice.

The exact nutritional composition of rice can vary according to variety, cultivation and processing, so we do not make unverified nutritional or medicinal claims.

Why Can You Occasionally See Black Pests in Naturally Preserved Rice?

This is an important point we want our customers to understand.

At Sampoorna Swadesi, we follow natural preservation and storage practices rather than relying on chemical preservatives or unnecessary chemical pest-control treatments to extend shelf life. Because of this approach, occasionally you may find a small rice insect/pest in the rice, particularly if the rice has been stored for some time or exposed to warm and humid conditions. This does NOT automatically mean the rice has been adulterated.

In fact, the occasional presence of a natural storage pest can occur in rice that has not been treated with chemical insect-control agents. However, customers should not consume rice that has visible mould, fungal growth, an unusual smell, or significant infestation.

If you notice a genuine quality problem, please contact us with photographs and your order details so that we can assess the issue.

Our Natural Preservation Philosophy

We believe that food should be handled as naturally as reasonably possible.

Instead of depending on chemical preservatives to artificially extend the shelf life of rice, we follow appropriate traditional/natural preservation and storage practices. This means that the product may behave differently from commercially treated rice. Natural food may not always look perfectly uniform or remain completely insect-free for an unlimited period. We believe it is important to tell our customers this honestly rather than hiding it.

The Sampoorna Swadesi Difference

We want you to know where your rice comes from.

With Sampoorna Swadesi, our objective is to build a connection between:

Farmer → Farm → Food → Family

We work with farming families and traditional producers in India and try to maintain traceability of the products we source.

For this rice, we can tell you:

Who grew it: Yedukondalu
Where: Piduguralla, Andhra Pradesh
What: Chintaloori Sanna Rice
Processing: Single Polished
Farming approach: Traditional / indigenous natural farming practices

This farmer connection is central to the Sampoorna Swadesi concept.

How to Use

Chintaloori Sanna Rice can be used as a traditional everyday rice.

Basic preparation
Measure the required quantity of rice.
Wash gently 2–3 times.
Soak if your preferred cooking method requires it.
Cook using your preferred method — pressure cooker, pot or rice cooker.
Adjust water according to your cooking method and desired texture.

Tip: Different traditional rice varieties can behave differently during cooking. We recommend trying a small quantity first and adjusting the water ratio according to your preferred texture.

Storage Instructions

To maintain the quality of the rice:

– Store in a cool, dry place.
– Keep the packet/container tightly closed after opening.
– Avoid moisture and direct sunlight.
– Do not store near strong-smelling products.
– For longer storage, customers may choose an appropriate airtight food-grade container.
– Always check the rice before cooking.

Rice quality can be affected by temperature, humidity and storage conditions, particularly in Singapore’s climate.

Important Product Information

This is a naturally handled traditional rice product. Unlike rice that has undergone chemical pest treatment, naturally preserved rice may occasionally develop storage insects, especially when stored for longer periods under warm or humid conditions. Do not consume rice showing visible fungus/mould, unusual odour or significant deterioration.

If you experience a genuine quality issue, please contact us with:

Order number
Product name
Photographs/video of the product
Batch/lot information, where available

We will review the matter and assist accordingly.

Replacement / Quality Policy

Because this is a natural food product, minor variation in grain colour, size, appearance or occasional natural storage-pest presence is not by itself considered a product defect.

Replacement will generally be considered in cases such as:
Visible fungus/mould,  White worms/larvae or other clear signs of serious infestation.
Other significant quality deterioration attributable to the product

For quality issues, please contact us as soon as possible after receiving/opening the product, with photographs and order details.

Please note

We generally do not replace rice solely because a customer finds an occasional black rice pest/insect. Such insects can occur naturally in untreated or naturally preserved grain, particularly during storage.

This policy is intended to be transparent about the nature of naturally handled rice while still allowing us to address genuine food-quality problems.
