Roasted Chana Dal is made from chana dal that is roasted to give it a naturally crisp texture and nutty flavor. It is convenient for everyday snacking and can also be used in traditional recipes.
At Sampoorna Swadesi, our grains and pulses are sourced through a network of farming families in India. Different crops require different soil, climate and growing conditions, so we work with different farmers and locations depending on the crop.
How Our Chana Is Cultivated
The chana used for our Roasted Chana Dal is cultivated using natural farming methods and traditional/indigenous seeds.
We follow natural preservation and storage methods to help maintain the shelf life of the product instead of relying on chemical preservatives.
As a naturally cultivated and handled product, natural variations may occur between batches in:
- Colour
- Size and appearance
- Aroma
- Texture
- Moisture
- Roasting characteristics
These variations can naturally occur from one harvest or batch to another.
We do not call our products “organic” because we do not have organic certification. Our focus is on knowing the farmers, the source and the farming practices.
Roasting
The chana is roasted to create a crisp, convenient form of chana dal.
Roasting can naturally result in differences in:
- Colour
- Crispness
- Texture
- Aroma
These may vary slightly between batches.
Why You May Occasionally See Black Storage Pests
Customers may occasionally notice small black storage insects/pests in roasted chana and other stored grains or pulses.
We want our customers to understand that the occasional presence of a storage insect does not automatically mean that the product has been adulterated.
Stored grains and pulses can naturally attract insects, particularly under warm and humid storage conditions. They may become visible only after some time.
Because we follow natural preservation practices rather than depending on chemical pest-control treatments, occasional storage insects can occur.
Proper Storage
After opening:
- Store Roasted Chana Dal in a clean, dry, airtight container.
- Keep it in a cool, dry place.
- Protect it from moisture.

Our Preservation Approach
We prefer natural preservation and storage practices instead of relying on chemical preservatives.
As a result, customers may notice natural differences between batches in colour, size, aroma, crispness and texture.
Such natural variation does not necessarily indicate a quality problem.
Replacement Policy
We generally do not replace Roasted Chana Dal for normal natural variation or occasional storage insects.
However, if you notice a genuine quality problem such as:
- Visible fungus or mould
- White worms/larvae
- Significant deterioration of the product
please contact us with clear photographs and your order details. The issue will be reviewed and replacement will be considered where appropriate.
The Sampoorna Swadesi Approach
Different grains and pulses need different soil, climate and growing conditions. That is why we source different crops from farming families in different locations.
Our focus is on maintaining a direct connection with farmers, understanding the source and bringing traditionally cultivated food to our customers.
We may not have organic certification, but we want you to know who grows your food, where it comes from and how it is cultivated.
Know your farmer. Know your food.
