Pomegranate

Pomegranate is a fruit known for its distinctive round shape, tough outer skin and juicy edible seeds (arils). The arils can range from light pink to deep red depending on the variety.

Our Pomegranates are sourced through farming families and agricultural networks associated with Bengaluru, Karnataka, following traditional and indigenous farming practices. The actual farmer, growing area, variety and harvest characteristics may vary depending on the season and availability.

Pomegranates are naturally protected by their outer skin, which helps the fruit retain its quality after harvesting. Like all fresh agricultural produce, natural differences can occur from one fruit to another.

Benefits of Using

Pomegranate naturally provides:

  • Vitamin C in varying amounts.
  • Vitamin K.
  • Folate (vitamin B9).
  • Dietary fibre, particularly when the seeds and surrounding edible portions are consumed.
  • Potassium, a naturally occurring mineral.
  • Naturally occurring polyphenols and other plant compounds.
  • Natural carbohydrates and sugars that contribute to its sweet-tart flavour.

These are general nutritional characteristics and are not medical claims.

Common Uses

Pomegranate can be enjoyed in many ways:

  • Eaten fresh
  • Added to fruit salads
  • Breakfast bowls
  • Added to yoghurt or curd
  • Garnishing rice and savoury dishes
  • Chaats
  • Raita
  • Fresh juice
  • Smoothies
  • Desserts
  • Traditional preparations using pomegranate seeds

The edible arils can be eaten directly or separated from the outer rind for use in recipes.

Natural Freshness & Shelf Life

Pomegranate has a relatively firm outer skin that naturally protects the edible arils inside. However, the fruit continues to change during storage.

Over time, a pomegranate may naturally:

  • Lose some moisture
  • Develop slightly darker or drier skin
  • Become lighter in weight
  • Show minor surface marks
  • Have arils that gradually become less juicy
  • Develop internal deterioration if stored for an extended period or exposed to unsuitable conditions

The outer appearance does not always provide a complete indication of the condition of the arils inside.

Why Pomegranate May Spoil

Pomegranates can deteriorate because of natural ageing, moisture, physical damage and unsuitable storage.

They may spoil faster when:

  • Bruised or damaged during handling
  • Exposed to excessive moisture
  • Stored in unsuitable temperatures
  • Kept for an extended period
  • A damaged fruit is stored together with healthy fruits

We rely on proper harvesting, handling and natural storage practices, rather than chemical preservatives to artificially extend the shelf life of fresh fruit.

Storage

For better freshness:

  • Store whole pomegranates in a cool, dry place for shorter-term use.
  • Refrigeration can help extend storage life.
  • Keep fruits dry and avoid unnecessary moisture.
  • Handle gently to prevent cracks and bruising.
  • Check fruits periodically for soft or damaged areas.
  • Once the fruit is cut and the arils are removed, refrigerate them in a clean, covered container and consume appropriately.

Natural Variation

Naturally grown Pomegranates may vary in:

  • Fruit size
  • Shape
  • Skin colour
  • Skin texture
  • Aril colour
  • Seed hardness
  • Juiciness
  • Sweetness
  • Tartness
  • Number and size of arils

The colour of the arils does not necessarily indicate quality. Different varieties naturally produce different shades of pink or red.

Replacement Policy

Generally, fresh fruits are not eligible for replacement because of normal natural variation or ordinary deterioration after delivery.

Differences in fruit size, shape, skin colour, aril colour, sweetness, tartness and seed characteristics are natural characteristics of Pomegranate.

If there is a genuine quality issue that was already present at the time of delivery, please provide clear photographs and the relevant order details. The matter can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
