Our Kodo Millet Idly Ravva is made from carefully selected Kodo Millet grains sourced through our network of farming families in India. The grains are cleaned and coarsely milled into ravva suitable for preparing traditional idly/idli batter.

It offers a convenient way to prepare homemade millet-based idly using the familiar traditional method of combining millet with urad dal.

From Grain to Idly Ravva

Kodo Millet is sourced from different farming families depending on crop availability and sourcing.

The grains are:

  • Carefully selected
  • Cleaned before processing
  • Coarsely milled into ravva
  • Handled using natural preservation and storage practices
  • Packed for convenient use in traditional cooking

The actual farmer/source may vary by batch depending on crop availability and sourcing.

Our Farming Approach

Our grains come through a network of farming families who follow traditional and natural farming practices passed down through generations.

We focus on knowing:

  • Who grows the crop
  • Where it is grown
  • How it is cultivated
  • How the grain is handled after harvest

We do not carry an organic certification. Our approach is based on our direct relationship with farming families and our understanding of their traditional cultivation practices.

We do not intentionally adulterate our products.

How to Use Kodo Millet Idly Ravva

Kodo Millet Idly Ravva can be combined with urad dal to prepare traditional millet-based idly.

Basic preparation:

  1. Wash and soak the Kodo Millet Idly Ravva.
  2. Soak urad dal separately.
  3. Prepare the batter according to your preferred idly-making method.
  4. Combine the millet and urad dal batter.
  5. Add salt as required and allow the batter to ferment.
  6. Pour the prepared batter into idly moulds.
  7. Steam until properly cooked.
  8. Serve with chutney, sambar or your preferred accompaniment.

About Natural Storage & Occasional Storage Pests

Grains and milled grain products are naturally susceptible to storage insects, particularly in warm and humid conditions.

Because we follow natural preservation and storage practices rather than relying on chemical pest-control treatments, occasional storage insects can sometimes occur.

The presence of a storage insect does not automatically mean that the product is adulterated.

For best storage:

  • Transfer the ravva to a clean, dry, airtight container.
  • Store in a cool and dry place.
  • Protect from moisture and humidity.
  • Always use a clean, dry spoon.
  • Check the product before cooking.

Replacement Policy

Natural variation or the occasional presence of storage insects does not by itself qualify for replacement.

However, if you receive a product with a genuine quality issue, such as:

  • Visible fungus or mould
  • White worms/larvae
  • Significant deterioration
  • Other clear quality concerns

please contact us with clear photographs and your order details so that we can review the issue.
