Our Ground Nut Oil is a traditional unrefined oil produced using bull-driven Ghani / cold-pressing methods.
The oil is produced by Nammaveedu, an IT Engineer turned farmer, from Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, India.
The groundnuts used for preparing the oil are also naturally grown.
At Sampoorna Swadesi, we choose oils that follow traditional extraction methods rather than treating the oil as an industrial commodity.
From Naturally Grown Groundnuts to Traditional Oil
The journey of this oil begins with the groundnut.
The groundnuts are naturally grown and then processed using a traditional bull-driven Ghani / cold-pressed method.
Our approach:
Naturally Grown Groundnuts
Traditional Bull-Driven Ghani
Cold Pressing
Unrefined Oil
Bottled for Your Kitchen
The oil is not refined to create a standardised appearance, colour or texture.
That is why you may notice natural variations between bottles and batches.
What Is Bull-Driven Ghani Oil?
A traditional Ghani is an age-old method of extracting oil from oilseeds.
In this method, the seeds are crushed and pressed traditionally to release their oil.
The bull-driven Ghani method is part of India’s traditional oil-making heritage.
For us, preserving this traditional method is important because the process itself is part of the product’s identity.
Naturally Grown Groundnuts
The groundnuts used to prepare this oil are also naturally grown.
We believe that the quality of an oil begins with the quality and source of the seeds.
Our objective is to maintain a closer connection between:
Farmer → Seed → Traditional Processing → Oil → Customer
Unrefined Oil – What Does That Mean?
This is an unrefined oil.
It is not processed to create the uniform colour, aroma, clarity and consistency commonly associated with refined oils.
Therefore, you may naturally notice:
- Different shades of colour
- Different levels of aroma
- Slight variation in thickness
- Natural variation in clarity
- Sediment settling at the bottom
- Differences between one batch and another
These variations are expected.
We cannot guarantee that every bottle will have exactly the same colour, aroma, structure, thickness or clarity.
Natural oils can also change in appearance and aroma as time passes.
Why Is There Sediment at the Bottom?
You may sometimes notice natural sediment settling at the bottom of the bottle.
This can occur because the oil is unrefined and has not been processed to achieve the highly clear appearance of refined oil.
Please don’t mistake natural sediment for a defect.
The appearance of the oil can vary according to:
- The groundnut variety
- The growing season
- The harvest
- The pressing batch
- Natural particles remaining after extraction
- Storage conditions
- Time after production
The presence or absence of sediment should not by itself be used as a test of whether an oil is pure.
Why Does the Colour or Aroma Change?
One of the things you may notice with traditionally produced, unrefined oil is that every batch may not look or smell exactly the same.
The colour and aroma can naturally vary depending on the seeds and the production batch.
The oil can also change somewhat in appearance and aroma over time.
Therefore:
Colour variation is normal.
Aroma variation is normal.
Thickness variation is normal.
Clarity variation is normal.
We do not artificially standardise every bottle to look identical.
Experience the Difference in Your Cooking
This Ground Nut Oil is made for customers who appreciate traditional oil extraction and unrefined food products.
Many customers prefer to experience the characteristics of traditionally extracted oil through its natural aroma, flavour and cooking performance.
Rather than making exaggerated health claims, we encourage you to experience the product in your own cooking.
Meet the Producer – Nammaveedu
This oil is produced by Nammaveedu, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.
What makes their story special is that the producer is an IT Engineer who chose to become a farmer.
The transition from a technology career to farming reflects a commitment to agriculture, traditional food production and a closer relationship with the land.
At Sampoorna Swadesi, we value such producer relationships because we want our customers to know where their food comes from and who is behind the product.
The Sampoorna Swadesi Concept
We don’t simply select an oil because it is available in the market.
We look at:
Who produces it?
Where do the seeds come from?
How are the seeds cultivated?
How is the oil extracted?
Is the product refined or unrefined?
For this Ground Nut Oil:
Producer: Nammaveedu
Location: Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, India
Raw Material: Naturally grown groundnuts
Extraction: Bull Driven Ghani / Cold Pressed
Processing: Unrefined
This transparency is an important part of the Sampoorna Swadesi philosophy.
Storage Instructions
To maintain the quality of the oil:
- Store in a cool, dry place.
- Keep the bottle tightly closed.
- Keep away from direct sunlight.
- Avoid storing near heat sources.
- Use a clean, dry utensil when handling the oil.
- Do not introduce water or moisture into the bottle.
- Natural sediment may settle at the bottom during storage.
Because this is an unrefined oil, its appearance may change naturally during storage.
Important Product Information
This is NOT a standardized refined oil.
Please purchase this product with the understanding that natural variation is part of the product.
We cannot guarantee that every bottle will have:
- Exactly the same colour
- Exactly the same aroma
- Exactly the same thickness
- Exactly the same clarity
- Exactly the same sediment level
Batch-to-batch variation and changes over time are naturally expected.
The oil is also subject to the applicable Singapore food requirements for edible oils. Singapore’s Food Regulations specify requirements for edible fats and oils, including that edible fats and oils must be free from offensive odour and taste.
Replacement Policy
We want to keep our replacement policy clear and fair.
We generally DO NOT replace the oil because of:
- Change in colour
- Change in aroma
- Difference in thickness
- Difference in clarity
- Natural sediment at the bottom
- Batch-to-batch variation
- Natural changes occurring during storage
These characteristics can occur with traditionally produced, unrefined oil.
Replacement will be considered if:
The oil develops an abnormal bitter taste or other genuine product-quality problem.
If you believe there is a genuine quality issue, please contact us with:
- Order number
- Product photographs
- Batch/lot details, if available
- Description of the problem
We will review the issue and assist accordingly.

Sampoorna Swadesi Promise
Pure • Natural • Traditional
We believe that traditional food should not be judged only by how uniform it looks.
A naturally produced oil may have its own:
Colour – Aroma – Texture – Sediment – Batch variation
These are part of understanding an unrefined, traditionally extracted oil.
Know Your Producer. Know Your Seeds. Know Your Oil.
Farmer → Naturally Grown Seeds → Traditional Ghani → Unrefined Oil → Your Kitchen
