Our Foxtail Millet Idly Ravva is made from carefully selected foxtail millet grains sourced through our network of farming families. The grains are cleaned and coarsely milled to a suitable texture for preparing traditional idly/idli batter.

Foxtail Millet Idly Ravva is convenient to use with urad dal for preparing homemade idly, while retaining the characteristic grain texture of foxtail millet.

🌾 From Grain to Idly Ravva

The foxtail millet used for this product is sourced from different farming families depending on crop availability and sourcing.

The grains are:

  • Carefully selected
  • Cleaned before processing
  • Coarsely milled into ravva
  • Handled using natural preservation and storage practices
  • Packed for convenient use in traditional cooking

Actual farmer/source may vary by batch depending on crop availability and sourcing.

Our Farming Approach

Our grains come through a network of farming families who follow traditional and natural farming practices passed down through generations.

We focus on knowing:

  • Who grows the crop
  • Where it is grown
  • How it is cultivated
  • How the grain is handled after harvest

We do not carry an organic certification. Our approach is based on our direct relationship with farming families and our understanding of their traditional cultivation practices.

We do not intentionally adulterate our products.

How to Use Foxtail Millet Idly Ravva

Foxtail Millet Idly Ravva can be used along with urad dal to prepare traditional millet-based idly.

Basic preparation:

  1. Wash and soak the Foxtail Millet Idly Ravva.
  2. Soak urad dal separately.
  3. Grind or prepare the batter according to your preferred idly-making method.
  4. Combine and ferment the batter.
  5. Add salt as required.
  6. Steam in idly moulds until properly cooked.
  7. Serve hot with chutney, sambar or your preferred accompaniment.

It can also be used for experimenting with other traditional steamed millet preparations.

About Natural Storage & Occasional Storage Pests

Because grains are naturally stored products and we follow natural preservation and storage practices rather than relying on chemical pest-control treatments, occasional storage insects can sometimes occur, particularly in warm and humid conditions.

The presence of a storage insect does not automatically mean that the product is adulterated or unsafe.

For best storage:

  • Transfer the ravva to a clean, dry, airtight container.
  • Store in a cool and dry place.
  • Keep away from moisture and humidity.
  • Always use a clean, dry spoon.
  • Check the product before cooking.

Replacement Policy

Natural variation or the occasional presence of storage insects does not by itself qualify for replacement.

However, if you receive a product with a genuine quality issue, such as:

  • Visible fungus or mould
  • White worms/larvae
  • Significant deterioration
  • Other clear quality concerns

please contact us with clear photographs and your order details so that we can review the issue.
