Desi Rice Flakes are made from traditional Desi Rice that is processed into thin, light flakes. They are commonly used for quick breakfasts, snacks and traditional Indian recipes.
Our Desi Rice is sourced through various farming families in India. Different rice varieties are cultivated in different regions depending on soil, climate and seasonal conditions.
We prefer unpolished, traditional/indigenous rice varieties and do not intentionally adulterate our products.
From Desi Rice to Rice Flakes
The rice is cleaned and processed to produce rice flakes while retaining the natural character of the rice.
The thickness and size of the flakes may vary slightly between batches depending on the rice variety and processing.
Our Sourcing & Farming Approach
Our Desi Rice is sourced from various farming families and agricultural sources in India.
We focus on traditional/indigenous grains and maintaining the natural character of the product. We do not intentionally add or mix undeclared ingredients.
The actual farmer/source may vary from batch to batch depending on crop availability.
We do not represent the product as certified organic unless the applicable certification is available.
Common Uses

How to Use
For most preparations, rinse the rice flakes gently and allow them to soften for a few minutes before cooking.
They can be combined with vegetables, spices, peanuts, coconut or other ingredients according to the recipe.
Why Can Black Pests Appear?
Rice flakes are a naturally processed agricultural product. Under warm and humid storage conditions, occasional black insects or other storage pests may appear.
Storage insects can sometimes be present in grain products before they become visible and may develop during storage.
The presence of an occasional storage pest does not automatically mean that the product has been adulterated.
We prefer natural handling and storage practices rather than relying on chemical pest-control treatments to prevent every possible storage insect.
How to Store Desi Rice Flakes
After opening:
- Transfer to a clean, completely dry, airtight container.
- Store in a cool and dry place.
- Protect from humidity and moisture.
- Keep away from direct sunlight and heat.
- Always use a clean, dry spoon.
- Check periodically, especially during warm and humid weather.
- Clean and completely dry the container before storing a fresh batch.
About Fungus & White Worms
Moisture exposure or unsuitable storage conditions can result in fungal growth/mould or insect larvae (white worms).
We generally do not replace the product for normal natural variation or occasional storage insects.
However, if the product shows visible fungus/mould, white worms/larvae or significant deterioration, please contact us with clear photographs and your order details so that we can review the issue.
Natural Characteristics
As a natural grain product, Desi Rice Flakes may naturally vary in:
- Flake size
- Thickness
- Colour
- Texture
- Aroma
- Moisture level
These variations can occur between crops and batches and do not necessarily indicate a quality problem.
