Traditional Bull-Driven Cold Pressed Oil
Ippa Oil, also known as Mahua Oil, is traditionally obtained from the seeds of the Mahua tree (Madhuca longifolia).
Our Ippa / Mahua Oil is produced using a traditional bull-driven cold-pressing method, where an oil extraction system is powered by a bull walking around the traditional oil mill.
This traditional method is valued for its slow and gentle extraction process and its connection with India’s traditional oil-making practices.
Why Choose Bull-Driven Ippa / Mahua Oil?
- Made from Ippa / Mahua seeds.
- Extracted using a traditional bull-driven oil press.
- Traditionally cold-pressed without relying on high-temperature extraction.
- Suitable for Pooja and traditional devotional practices.
- Retains the natural character of the oil and its traditional aroma.
- A traditional alternative for customers who prefer naturally extracted pooja oils.
Ippa / Mahua Oil for Pooja
Ippa Oil has traditionally been used in several regions of India for lighting traditional oil lamps and other devotional purposes.
It can be used for:
- Pooja lamps
- Deepam
- Temple lamps
- Daily prayer rituals
- Festival and special-occasion pooja
- Traditional devotional practices
How to Use
Pour a suitable quantity of Ippa / Mahua Oil into a clean diya or oil lamp, place the wick properly and light it according to your usual pooja practice.
Always place the lamp on a stable, heat-resistant surface and keep it away from curtains, paper, children and other flammable materials.
What Makes Bull-Driven Oil Special?
Traditional oil extraction was once closely connected with village life and the use of animal-powered ghani systems.
In a bull-driven ghani, the bull slowly walks around the press, turning the traditional mechanism that crushes and presses the seeds.
This is very different from highly mechanised commercial oil extraction and reflects an older Indian method of producing oil.
Our focus is on preserving this traditional method and bringing such traditionally produced oils to customers.
Natural Characteristics
As this is a traditionally extracted oil, natural variations may occur from batch to batch.
You may notice differences in:
- Colour
- Aroma
- Clarity
- Thickness
- Sedimentation
A small amount of natural sediment may sometimes be present in traditionally extracted oils. This can be part of the natural character of the product.
Why Can Sediment Appear at the Bottom?
You may sometimes see natural sediment settling at the bottom of the bottle.
Because this is an unrefined oil, it is not processed to achieve the highly clear and uniform appearance of a refined oil.
The amount of sediment can vary from batch to batch.
Storage
To maintain the quality of the oil:
- Store in a cool, dry place.
- Keep the bottle tightly closed.
- Keep away from direct sunlight.
- Keep away from excessive heat.
- Use a clean, dry utensil if transferring the oil.
- Keep the oil away from water and moisture.
Important Safety Note
This product is intended for Pooja / lamp-lighting purposes.
It is not intended for cooking, drinking or medicinal use unless the product is specifically labelled and sold for those purposes.
When burning the oil:
- Never leave a lit lamp unattended.
- Keep away from children and pets.
- Keep away from curtains and other flammable materials.
- Place the lamp on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
- Extinguish the flame safely after use.
Our Traditional Approach
At Sampoorna Swadesi, we value traditional Indian methods of producing everyday and devotional products.
Bull-driven oil extraction represents an older village-based method in which the bull, traditional ghani and natural oilseed come together to produce oil through a slow and traditional process.
We believe traditional knowledge deserves to be preserved and made accessible to the next generation.
