Rajma Red (Red Kidney Beans) is a traditional pulse sourced from our network of farming families in India.

At Sampoorna Swadesi, we work with different farmers for different grains and pulses because each crop has its own soil, climate and growing requirements. Our aim is to source each product from farming locations where the crop can be cultivated using suitable traditional practices.

Know Your Farmers

Our grains and pulses are sourced from different farming families, including:

  1. Rajesh – Macherla, Andhra Pradesh
  2. Siva Reddy – Rayachoti, Andhra Pradesh
  3. Jagadeesh Rao – Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh
  4. Ashok Reddy – Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh
  5. Yedukondalu – Piduguralla, Andhra Pradesh

The actual farmer/source may vary by batch depending on availability and the crop.

How Our Rajma Red Is Cultivated

Our Rajma Red is cultivated using natural farming methods and traditional/indigenous seeds.

We follow natural preservation and storage methods to help maintain the shelf life of the pulses instead of relying on chemical preservatives.

Because the product is naturally cultivated and handled, you may notice natural variations between batches in:

  • Colour
  • Size and shape
  • Texture
  • Aroma
  • Moisture
  • Cooking characteristics

These variations can occur naturally from one batch or harvest to another.

We do not call our products “organic” because we do not have organic certification. Our focus is on knowing the farmers, the source and the farming practices.

Why You May Occasionally See Black Storage Pests

Customers may occasionally notice small black storage insects/pests in Rajma and other stored pulses.

We want our customers to understand that the occasional presence of a storage insect does not automatically mean that the pulse has been adulterated.

Stored grains and pulses can naturally attract insects, particularly under warm and humid storage conditions. These insects may become visible only after some time.

Because we follow natural preservation practices rather than depending on chemical pest-control treatments, occasional storage insects can occur.

Proper Storage

After opening:

  • Store Rajma in a clean, dry, airtight container.
  • Keep it in a cool, dry place.
  • Protect it from moisture.
  • Check the pulses before cooking.

How to Use Rajma Red

Rajma Red can be used in a variety of traditional and everyday dishes, including:

  • Rajma curry
  • Rajma masala
  • Rajma rice
  • Rajma gravy
  • Mixed bean preparations
  • Traditional Indian pulse dishes
  • Soups and stews

Important: Rajma should be properly soaked and thoroughly cooked before consumption.

Our Preservation Approach

We prefer natural preservation and storage practices instead of relying on chemical preservatives.

As a result, customers may notice natural differences between batches in colour, size, aroma, texture and cooking behaviour.

Such natural variation does not necessarily indicate a quality problem.

Replacement Policy

We generally do not replace Rajma for normal natural variation or occasional storage insects.

However, if you notice a genuine quality problem such as:

  • Visible fungus or mould
  • White worms/larvae
  • Significant deterioration of the product

please contact us with clear photographs and your order details. The issue will be reviewed and replacement will be considered where appropriate.

The Sampoorna Swadesi Approach

Different crops need different soil, climate and growing conditions. That is why we do not depend on a single farming location for every grain and pulse.

We work with farming families across different locations and source crops according to their suitability and availability.

Our focus is on maintaining a connection with the farmers, understanding the source and bringing traditionally cultivated food to our customers.

We may not have organic certification, but we want you to know who grows your food, where it comes from and how it is cultivated.

Know your farmer. Know your food.
