Our Sesame Oil is a traditional, unrefined cooking oil produced using a bull-driven Ghani / cold-pressed method.

The oil is produced by Nammaveedu, an IT Engineer turned farmer, from Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, India.

The sesame seeds used to prepare the oil are naturally grown. The oil is processed without chemical treatment as part of the traditional production method.

At Sampoorna Swadesi, we focus not only on the finished oil but also on the source of the seeds, the producer and the traditional method used to extract the oil.

From Naturally Grown Sesame Seeds to Oil

The journey of our Sesame Oil begins with naturally grown sesame seeds.

The seeds are traditionally processed through a bull-driven Ghani / cold-pressing method.

The oil is not refined to make every bottle look identical.

Therefore, natural differences between batches are expected.

What Is Bull-Driven Ghani Oil?

Ghani is a traditional Indian method of extracting oil from oilseeds.

The seeds are crushed and pressed through a traditional mechanical process to release the oil.

At Sampoorna Swadesi, we value these traditional methods because they form part of India’s traditional food-production heritage.

What Does “Unrefined” Mean?

This Sesame Oil is unrefined.

It is not processed to create the completely uniform colour, aroma, clarity and thickness associated with highly refined oils.

You may therefore notice natural differences in:

  • Colour
  • Aroma
  • Thickness
  • Clarity
  • Texture
  • Sediment

Every batch may not look exactly the same.

The colour and aroma may also change naturally as the oil is stored over time.

We cannot guarantee identical colour, structure, thickness or aroma in every bottle.

This is an important characteristic of traditionally produced, unrefined oil.

Why Can Sediment Appear at the Bottom?

You may sometimes see natural sediment settling at the bottom of the bottle.

Because this is an unrefined oil, it is not processed to achieve the highly clear and uniform appearance of a refined oil.

The amount of sediment can vary from batch to batch.

Important

Sediment should not, by itself, be treated as a scientific test of oil purity. What matters is that the product meets applicable food-quality and safety requirements.

Singapore’s Food Regulations require edible fats and oils to be free from offensive odour and taste and set requirements applicable to edible oils.

Why Can the Color & Aroma Change?

Traditionally produced unrefined oil can naturally vary from one batch to another.

The characteristics can be influenced by:

  • Sesame seed variety
  • Growing conditions
  • Harvest
  • Seed quality
  • Production batch
  • Traditional extraction process
  • Storage conditions
  • Time after production

Therefore:

Color variation is expected.
Aroma variation is expected.
Thickness variation is expected.
Clarity variation is expected.

We do not artificially standardise every bottle to look exactly the same.

Naturally Grown Sesame Seeds

The sesame seeds used for preparing this oil are naturally grown.

For us, the journey of an oil begins with its raw material.

We therefore look at both:

The source and cultivation of the seeds
and
the method used to extract the oil.

This is an important part of our Sampoorna Swadesi selection philosophy.

Meet Producer

This Sesame Oil is produced by Nammaveedu, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, India.

The producer has a unique journey — an IT Engineer who turned towards farming.

At Sampoorna Swadesi, we value such producer relationships and the connection between farming, traditional food production and the land.

Experience It in Your Cooking

This Sesame Oil is intended for customers who appreciate the traditional character of unrefined, cold-pressed oil.

You can experience its natural characteristics through its:

  • Aroma
  • Flavour
  • Texture
  • Cooking experience

Rather than making unverified health claims, we prefer to let customers experience the product themselves.

The Sampoorna Swadesi Concept

We don’t simply select an oil because it is available in the market.

We want to understand:

Where do the seeds come from?
How are they grown?
Who produces the oil?
How is the oil extracted?
Is it refined or unrefined?

For this Sesame Oil:

Producer: Nammaveedu
Location: Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, India
Raw Material: Naturally grown sesame seeds
Extraction: Bull-Driven Ghani / Cold Pressed
Processing: Unrefined

Know Your Producer. Know Your Seeds. Know Your Oil.

This transparency is at the heart of the Sampoorna Swadesi concept.

Storage Instructions

For best quality:

  • Store in a cool, dry place.
  • Keep the bottle tightly closed.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight.
  • Keep away from excessive heat.
  • Use clean, dry utensils when handling the oil.
  • Do not allow water or moisture to enter the bottle.

Natural changes in colour, aroma and appearance may occur during storage.

SFA also notes that storage instructions should be provided where necessary to maintain food quality and safety.

Important Product Notice

This is NOT a standardized refined oil.

Please understand that we cannot guarantee identical:

  • Colour
  • Aroma
  • Thickness
  • Structure
  • Clarity
  • Sediment level

in every batch or throughout the storage period.

Natural variation is part of the character of this product and should not automatically be considered a product defect.

Replacement Policy

We want to be completely transparent about our replacement policy.

We generally DO NOT replace the oil because of:

  • Change in colour
  • Change in aroma
  • Difference in thickness
  • Difference in clarity
  • Natural sediment at the bottom
  • Batch-to-batch variation
  • Natural changes during storage

These characteristics can occur with traditionally produced, unrefined oil.

Replacement will be considered if:

The oil develops an abnormal bitter taste or there is another genuine product-quality issue.

If you believe there is a genuine quality issue, please contact us with:

  • Order number
  • Product photographs
  • Batch/lot details, if available
  • Description of the issue

We will review the matter and assist accordingly.

SFA’s Food Regulations require edible fats and oils to be free from offensive odour and taste, so an abnormal taste issue is appropriately treated differently from normal colour or aroma variation.
